Introduction

The Private Columbaria Appeal Board (“Appeal Board”) is a statutory body established under section 83 of the Private Columbaria Ordinance (Cap. 630) (“the Ordinance”). The Ordinance has come into operation since 30 June 2017 upon gazettal to regulate the operation of private columbaria through a licensing scheme. An applicant or a holder of a specified instrument who is aggrieved by any of the decisions made by the Private Columbaria Licensing Board or by the Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene, as set out in section 84(1) of the Ordinance, may lodge a notice of appeal in writing and in the specified form, with the Appeal Board within 21 days after the date on which the notice of the decision under appeal is given to the person.
